We have discovered that the most authentic Mexican food can be found in Danshui. About an hour on the mrt heading north. Really great nachos and tacos with weekday specials. We recently rented bikes and rode from gongguan to danshui in about 2 hours. We unintentionally missed our designated bike drop off point and decided to keep riding till we reached the end of our road.
